Shalom in the name above all names, Yeshua the Messiah. I hope this mission report finds you well in the Lord. I extend my gratitude for your prayers, financial support, and encouragement during my two-week ONMI mission trip to South Sudan, from which I returned on September 14th.

Having safely returned to the USA by the grace of God in Yeshua, I would like to extend my heartfelt wishes for Yom Kippur and a belated Rosh Hashanah. In this mission report, I wish to highlight the spiritual mission of Operation Nehemiah Missions in South Sudan on Yom Kippur, which we celebrated at Nehemiah Trumpet Call, the NTC 97.3 FM Gospel radio station located at the Jerusalem Summit on Gordon Mountain in Nimule, Eastern Equatoria State, South Sudan

Biblical Foundation

The directive in Leviticus 23:27–28 calls for a sacred assembly and self-denial to seek atonement before the Lord. For Israel, this has consistently represented reconciliation with God. After the Temple's destruction, fasting, prayer, and repentance became the means to seek forgiveness.

The Messianic Perspective: Messianic believers believe that Yeshua entered not a physical sanctuary but the heavenly one (Hebrews 9:11–12), offering a once-for-all sacrifice that perfects those being sanctified (Hebrews 10:14). His atoning blood fulfills the need for sin atonement, rendering human fasting and affliction insufficient for ultimate forgiveness www.israelimessianics.com.

Living in the Fulfillment

While Messianic believers rest in the assurance of Yeshua’s sacrifice, they remain part of Israel, bound by covenant and destiny. Yom Kippur, therefore, is not merely a relic of the past but a living day of reflection, communal solidarity, and intercession. www.israelimessianics.com.

Operation Nehemiah Missions International (ONMI) is a faith-based, Messianic/Christian mission headquartered in Lanesborough, Massachusetts. It is dedicated to rebuilding families, churches, and communities in South Sudan through Gospel ministry, development projects, and sustainable local empowerment.

Overview

Operation Nehemiah Missions International, established in 1993, is a US faith-based nonprofit organization primarily operating in South Sudan. Its mission focuses on rebuilding and restoring the Biblical family and church in a nation recovering from war and persecution. The organization emphasizes national leadership, with 98% of its staff being South Sudanese Christians. onmissions.org

As outlined in our statement of faith: The main vision of Operation Nehemiah Missions is to spread the Gospel of Yeshua Hamasciach, leading people to repentance and eternal salvation. Jesus said, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (Matt. 4:4) The Word Brings Salvation… for, "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." 'How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news of good things." So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God' Romans 10: 14-17. We aim to minister to the body, soul, and spirit.

  We are predominantly an indigenous mission, with 98% of our staff being South Sudanese Christian nationals who, with your support, have rebuilt their lives both physically and spiritually from the devastation caused by 25 years of Islamic persecution, war, death, and displacement. The mission of ONMi, with your prayers and financial assistance, is to aid them in returning from exile to reconstruct their lives, families, churches, and communities affected by war and displacement. Our staff is passionately dedicated to actively contributing to the rebuilding of their nation and creating a "City on a Hill" in the new republic of South Sudan. We believe that indigenous leadership is the most effective way to foster self-reliance. We have trained and established a skilled and transparent indigenous Field Management Team with a shared long-term vision and commitment.

Key Project and Initiatives - establish the church at Aswa River bridge

Nehemiah Gospel Radio 97.3 FM: A Christian radio ministry supporting spiritual growth and community outreach. onmissions.org

This year, we initiated efforts to raise pastors and establish churches along the Juba-Nimule Highway A43, which crosses South Sudan and extends into East Africa. With your support, the Lord has provided us the opportunity to open a church at the Aswa River Bridge on Highway A43. The Aswa River Bridge community, consisting of both military personnel and civilians a very strategic crossing point where tens of thousands of travelers from South Sudan and East Africa cross every day. People are hungry for the Word of God and in desperate need of hearing the Gospel. As the Word of God states: "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." 'How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news of good things." So, then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God' Romans 10: 14-17. Our goal is to minister to the body, soul, and spirit.

The Lord has appointed evangelist Emmanuel to lead the construction of this small congregation with your financial support to bring this vision to fruition. We anticipate dedicating this building to the supremacy of Yeshua by the end of 2026, allowing the Aswa Bridge community to worship the Lord in a church with a roof over their heads.
