Three Months in South Sudan and Future Plans for ONM1 2026

Dear Co-laborers in the Great Commission,

Shalom to you and your families in the name above all names, Jesus the Messiah. I am writing to you from the vibrant and challenging land of South Sudan, where I have been since October. My family and I are here on a mission to monitor the ongoing work of Operation Nehemiah Missions, collaborating closely with the dedicated ground leadership team that is striving to make a significant impact in the community.

Reflecting on Three Months in South Sudan and Future Plans

It is astonishing to me how quickly three months have passed. As I approach the start of my fourth month here in South Sudan, I find myself reflecting on the experiences and challenges we have faced, as well as the progress we have made in our mission efforts. Each day brings new insights and opportunities to connect with the local community, and I am grateful for the chance to be part of this transformative work.

Looking ahead, I am hopeful to return to USA in the last week of March 2026. My goal is to accomplish the various tasks that lie ahead of me before I return to the United States for a brief period of at least three months, specifically during the months of April, May, and June. After this time, I plan to come back to South Sudan in mid-July to continue our efforts and support the local initiatives that are so vital to the community's development. While in the USA, I will update our co-laborers in the Great Commission in the caliber of your family who have been standing with us and lifting our arms in this work for the past 30 years about the work that we have been going here in South Sudan through ONMI.

We are currently in the dry season in the Republic of South Sudan, which is completely different from the weather in my home state of MA, where the entire New England region and the Northeast is covered in snow. Here in the State of Eastern Equatoria, South Sudan, we are experiencing a dry and hot season that started in December and is expected to continue until March. Over the past month, we have been diligently harvesting the crops we planted last year, including sorghum, maize, sweet corn, potatoes, and rice. This agricultural effort aligns with our vision for a sustainable long-term initiative aimed at establishing permanent food security. Our goal is to achieve self-sufficiency by relying on locally grown food, thus reducing our dependence on external sources and fostering resilience within the community.

Spreading the Gospel: Teaching Messianic Theology Across Borders

From a spiritual standpoint, I have been teaching the word of God at our local church ( the Nile Beth Israel Kehillah) broacasted live on our Christian radio station daily 97.3 FM. My teachings focus on Messianic Theology and a Biblical worldview, specifically through the "Growing in Maturity Messianic Guide" on NTC 97.3 FM. This broadcast reaches across South Sudan and northern Uganda, covering an area of about 80 miles in both countries and involving a population of 5 million people. Pray that Many who hear the word of God will come to the saving Knowledge of Yeshua the Messiah. The necessity of evangelism is clear from Jesus’ Great Commission, where He charged His followers with the task of making disciples by sharing the message of salvation: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20, UASV). This command calls believers to actively share the Gospel, which brings the power of salvation to those who hear and believe (Romans 10:17).

Progress and Community Impact of Dormitory Construction at Bethlehem Nursery and Primary Academy

What is happening in the field here? Last year, we undertook the construction of two dormitories intended to accommodate 200 students at the Bethlehem Nursery and Primary Academy. We broke ground at the beginning of December, and I am pleased to report that the work is progressing well. God willing, we are on track to complete the project by March 2026, which is essential for supporting the growing number of students in our educational programs.

The ongoing work involves three concurrent activities. We have completed the construction and casting of the foundations for both buildings. We are milling timber from our own farm to produce 3,500 pieces for roofing, and we are manufacturing 28,000 Hydraform interlocking blocks using our own machine, which is also providing jobs for the local community.

Expanding Educational Horizons: New Programs at Bethlehem and JJMPI for 2026

I am writing to you urgently regarding a crucial project initiative based on the current needs on the ground. Both Bethlehem Nursery and Primary Academy and the John and Judy Maclean Polytechnic Institute are preparing to open for the first term of the 2026 academic calendar, starting on February 5th, 2026. This is a significant milestone for the John and Judy Maclean Polytechnic Institute, as we are entering our third academic year. Since JJMPI opened in 2024, we have successfully graduated 30 students over the past two years. We have awarded diplomas in various fields, including electrical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology in welding, tailoring and fashion design, beauty salon management, and computer information technology with a focus on artificial intelligence. This year, we are excited to expand our offerings to include programs in automotive mechanics, civil engineering technology, and nursing for clinical training.

Empowering Students from Challenging Backgrounds to Achieve Academic Success

Numerous students who have gained from our programs originate from impoverished families returning from exile, working hard to reconstruct their lives in a difficult environment. Consequently, they frequently lack the financial means to afford basic school fees and accommodation. Despite these obstacles, we have successfully supported them with limited resources, and I am proud to report that many of our students have achieved academic excellence. To give you a better understanding of our educational initiatives, I will present some of their school transcripts, showcasing the subjects they are focusing on as they get ready to join the workforce.
